Type:   Basket
Name:   NB983 B16 P40
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   983
Context:   16
Page:   40
Date:   2006/06/08
Stratum:   Foundation trench
Notes:   The matrix of this basket is reddish brown sandy silt, loose, with no inclusions. B16 was initially thought to be a remainder of the fill of the pit (B's 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). However after scraping on the floor that was uncovered in B15 it turned out that this is actually the top of a block that seems to be related to the block that is visible on the N scarp of pit 2006-3, and therefore the soft soil was not the remainder of the fill of the pit but a possible foundation trench for the block. For this reason this basket was stopped without proceeding any further to the N.
