Stratum:   Mixed fill. Dark yellowish-brown, weakly-cemented, 25% inclusions, poorly sorted, pebbles and cobbles
Notes:   Continued excavation of the fill of the pit. This pass revealed a continuation of the loose soil noted in basket 51. Continued excavation shows that the pit runs directly into wall 215 at the southern limit of the basket. The level contained three pieces of marble, two of which appeared to be revetment, and a third that is worked on opposing faces. We also uncovered several black and white tesserae, bronze wasters, several pieces of charcoal and two coins. One piece of painted plaster was also revealed. We also found three fragments of lamps with molded decoration, one of which is figural. The martyr beside the wellhead/manhole was also cut back to c. 34cm. IN addition to a small iron find, we also found a small iron point (?).
