Stratum:   Soil in W287. Soil is light whitish brown sandy clay, 20% pebbles, 10% cobbles, weakly cemented.
Notes:   B48 is an area of soil to the south of W290 and within W287. It appears as if a block was removed from W287 and the area we are excavating is what was left. We are excavating here to confirm this. We have pulled up a number of fragment of red wall plaster. It seems that a block from this wall was removed at some point and this is the reason for the gap in the wall. Found wall plaster. Top plan p. 81.
