Corinth Basket: NB986 B12 P40
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   NB986 B12 P40
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   986
Context:   12
Page:   40
Date:   2007/04/25
Stratum:   Fill, dark-reddish brown, weakly cemented, 10% inclusions, poorly sorted, pebbles and cobbles
Notes:   Removal of the fill to the south of the cutting revealed by basket 11 and limited by the baulk to the west and another cutting to the east (revealed by basket 8). The fill revealed a fair amount of pottery and several fragments of tile, including an akroterion. In addition to these, we uncovered a large amount of painted wall plaster, a single coin, and some fragments of bronze. The basket was stopped when we came across the continuation of the diamond tile floor located to the south. We uncovered the northeast corner of the floor, though there appears to be some disturbance of the northwest corner. At the northwestern corner of the diamond tile pool there is a set back of 33 cm south and 70 cm east in the tile surface. It is unclear what this set back's function was. There is preserved evidence of the cement covering the join between the floor surface and the fragments of the wall. There was a small depression 30 cm north of the set back in the pool surface.
