Corinth Basket: NB986 B18 P56
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   NB986 B18 P56
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   986
Context:   18
Page:   56
Date:   2007/04/27
Stratum:   Fill, light, yellowish-brown, weakly cemented, 10% inclusions, well sorted, pebbles
Notes:   Pass continuing to remove the fill arbitrarily stopped at the close of basket 17. This basket continued to reveal fair amounts of pottery and wall plaster as well as small fragments of glass. We also came across numerous fragments of tile, especially at the northern extent of the trench. We also uncovered an inverted unfluted Doric column capital in the northwest corner of the trench. This capital is partially embedded in a lower stratum of slightly more reddish soil. We hope to reveal the entirety of the capital in a later basket. We again stopped the excavation of this fill arbitrarily when we came to the same level as that excavated as NB 985 B 12 to the south. It is unclear whether the edge on the west side of the basket has been fully defined, and we will likely explre this in more detail in a later basket.
