Stratum:   Fill, very dark, yellowish-brown, silty, 30% inclusions, poorly sorted, pebbles and large cobbles
Notes:   Continued pass to remove the fill of the pit west of the diamond tile pool. In order to dig this we rolled the large worked block on end to the north side of the pit. This block is roughly worked with many natural voids (L. 1.22, W. .73, H. .45). This basket revealed a small amount of pottery as well as some wall plaster, iron, glass, bronze, and 2 tesserae. We also uncovered several pieces of pebble set in cement that may be part of a built pithos or flooring. We closed the basket once it became too deep to safely work, but we had also come across a continuation of the colluvial layer first revealed at the bottom of basket 36. This layer continued to slope downward to the south, narrowing the pit and perhaps suggesting its bottom.
