Stratum:   Hard silty clay layer with fewer inclusions than level above. Almost no artifacts.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   This is a very hard, compact laminate fill layer of reddish brown silty clay with few inclusions and few artifacts. The context is clear on the east side nearest Trench 3 and becomes gradually diffused and mixed with wall melt towards the west. Several flat stones lying atop the surface are in evidence. To the west, a context of wall melt (227), sits atop and is mixed with this context. This context is interpreted as wind/water/natural process laminates in an abandonment context sits atop what appears to the last use formal surface found in the courtyard. Other post-abandonment/re-occupation processes are evident to the north (202 pebble-lined surface or structure), and east of trench 2 (Structure 221), each of which are associated with or which post-date this level.
