Stratum:   70% cobbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. The soil color is light yellowish red. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   This context was originally thought to be a 2nd pit SW of pit 275. There are high rubble inclusions of cobble deposited at irregular angles. We stopped excavation in STR 288 (surface) to the north presumably because this pit cut into it.
No. There are no clear cuts to account for this context. Kostas believes structure 288 and 291 to the north sit atop this layer of fill and just ënd". This seems unlikely and possibly a pickman/supervisor error that will not be rectified until we revisit the stratigraphic profile in the west wall of this section.
Excavation in 290 stopped (arbitrarily) about 10-15 cm below top of structure 291, but it may resume.
