Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   We opened context 44 on 3/4/16 in order to clean and expose the section of the drain (structure 45) running north of wall 18 up to the eastern end of wall 11. We dry-sieved 50% of the material from the drain. In the sieve, we found a small (c. 0.15m) coin (2016-161). To the north end of the drain, we also uncovered a bone stylus point, and elsewhere a cowrie shell. We revealed more of the north end of wall 18, which as enough to show that the drain continues beneath it.
