Description:   The soil color is dark greyish black. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is well sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   -72 is softer and more greyish and siltier than 63, with fewer inclusions
-Excavation of strip of soil S. of wall 49; this is 30 cm wide at its widest point, tapering to a point at its W. end.
-This soil is much softer, with fewer inclusions than 63; it therefore may be a foundation trench.
-Below, only about 8 cm down, a harder, more reddish and clayey surface was revealed, possibly another floor surface. This therefore dows not seem to be a foundation trench, as it appears to be later from floor surface revealed in context 63 and conceals another possible floor level.
- More of wall 49 revealed during excavation of context 72; this is constructed primarily of terracotta tiles. This may be an earlier phase of the wall going with an earlier surface (possibly the earlier surface revealed with excavation of 72?) with the revealed floor surface (revealed with excavation of 63) going with a later phase of the wall. Context 72 therefore may be related to the construction of the later phase of the wall 42.
