Notes: | This structure was the inner of two curvilinear walls running into the west scarp of the excavation area. It is separated from the outer wall by 0.45 m. The wall consists of two rows of unworked cobbles (max. dim. 0.16x0.15), tile (max. dim. 0.15x0.11x0.02), and small boulders (max dim. 0.29x0.18x0.14), with one piece of spolia, a marble fragment with a series of architectural mouldings. The wall was preserved to a height of two courses, with the second course represented by only a single stone. We believe that this wall and the other curvilinear Wall 1069 likely belong to the same building or feature, since they are parallel and built similarly--i.e. with unworked stones of a similar size, without any bonding material. The wall was excavated as 1071 and excavation stopped as soon as the wall stones were removed. Structure 1047 lay on top of both walls and may have been composed of building materials realted to these structures. | |
