Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We begin excavating 1083 upon completing removal of Hearth 1065, which was set into it. This, 1083, should be equivalent to Depost 1078 previously excavated to the W, but is dug separately given the risk of contamination from pits and excavation in 1078. We begin excavation from the W, from the area where the hearth was removed.
Tasos finds Coin 2013-100 in situe in the NE corner of the context. A fragment of pebble pavement (small pebbles in mortar, with the impressions of larger pebbles in the underside of the mortar). Vassilis finds Coin 2013-104 in the screen. Another fragment of pebble pavement, 3.5 cm thick.
At N and S we begin to expose a darker layer below, thicker with tile inclusions, perhaps a destruction layer. We peel back 1083 from N to S exposing more of this. This continues below most of 1083, save in the SW corner, where a hard surface without tiles is revealed, the same as that partly cut into by Pit 845. At this point we close 1083.
