Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay. Material bonding: -1.
Notes:   After the removal of the tile feature 1182 and its underlying deposit 1190, we decided to remove this deposit (1193), because it appears to be stratigraphically above clay floor 1184. Unfortunately their physical relationship was unable to be determined because the plaster floor was cut away to the east.
Some nice, early, fineware pots with full profiles came out of this small deposit. We are unfortunately unable to identify the formation of the deposit with certainty because we have only a small piece of it-- it looks as though it was cut at the west, possibly for the tile feature 1182; it was cut at the NE by the big bothros 1163, and by the robbing trench 1178 at the north; it was also cut at the south by foundation trench 1166. Perhaps it was a leveling fill of some sort.
Finally, the removal of 1193 revealed information pertaining to wall 1138. It now looks as though 1138 is the foundation of a much later wall without any of its superstructure preserved. This explains why the wall level lacks a foundation trench. A cut was made and plaster was poured into the trench to construct the foundation of the wall. Thus, deposit 1193 (and all of the others above it in this area) were cut for the construction of this foundation. 1193 was abutting not this one large rectangular cement/plaster block of 1138 but rather a small rectangular stone just below it. It is unclear at this time whether this stone was thrown in during the construction of Wall 1138 or whether it represents an earlier level contemporary with 1193.
