Category:   Deposit

Context:   1219

Date:   2013/06/10
Stratum:   Among the inclusions were large pieces of tile in large quantities, (15 x 14 x 2.5 cm, e.g.), ceramic fragments (coarse, fine, cooking), and bone. Inclusions c.75%
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is light reddish grey. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This deposit is characterized by the large number of tiles mixed into the debris. It comes down on a more compact black earth that extends further west, which our pickmen interpret as a floor. It is more likely, however, that it is a destruction fill.
This deposit is not cut by pit 1211 as previously thought, but rather was a spill-over dump or leveling fill into th enot-quite-full pit. This deposit overlays 1224.
