Stratum:   Soil is composed of mostly ash and some silt. Inclusions (other than ash): 5%: carbon frags and sherds.
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. Bottom slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is very dark brownish black. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is mixed- see description.
Notes:   B144 was the top fill of this pit. B144 revealed this basket - a small lens of black ash with fragments of carbon.
The removal of this basket reveals more black ash below, but without carbon frags. This new ashy deposit lies under a deposit of yellowish brown soil in the S1/2 of the pit. The next basket in this pit should be the yellowish brown soil.
