Bottom slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | Notes: | | We excavated this clayey soil at the northern end of the N-S wall at c. 269E to determine whether the exposed stones were part of the wall or whether the superficially circular arrangement of soil and stones indicated some other feature (e.g. a well). The removal of a few cm of fill revealed a cluster of irregular large stones (0.2 to 0.3m) not in line with the wall and lacking apparent organization. Several tile fragments were also interspersed as were a few roots (0.002 to 0.006m in diameter). | Context Pottery: | | Coarseware.
