Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. Bottom slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark brownish red. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   After B178 we decided to remove the lense with tiles of the destruction layer that is visible to the N, the W and the S of the pit with top of pit fill =B171.
B184 extended N, W and S of this pit and between the NS wall at 266.44E and the NS wall at 269E. The NS wall at 266.44 E has a threshold indicated on the drawing towards the south limit of the excavation area.
The soil of B184 was generally red, except for the soil just to the east of the Eastern side of the pit (top of pit fill - B171), which was very black with red patches. In the area of B184 just to the South of the pit we found some stones (boulders, cobbles, pebbles) together with the tiles. In this area we also removed the large rectangular block in the south limit of the pit (L. =0.70 m/ W. = 0.23m / H. = 0.17m)
Amount and weight of the tile fragments we removed: 343 tile fragments, W. = 116.8 kgs
At the bottom of the basket we revealed areas of different soil and inclusions : immediately N of the pit (top of pit fill = B171) there is an area of very red color (possibly mud brick and tiles). Beside this area is another with very dark black soil and patches of ashes. Following this area, in the NE of the Basket there is compact red soil (a floor?). In the E of the pit the soil is very dark black with patches of ash. Last, in the S and SW of the pit we revealed a new destruction layer covered with tiles. We will examine all these in different baskets.
Next we are going to do a cleaning basket of the area to the SE of B184 that we thought originally to be the same as B184, but soon we discovered that it is different.
Bones : total count = 152 Total W. = 0.92
