Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is very dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Context 245 was a small area along the north face of the E-W wall. We scrapped here to determine whether or not this area was a small pit.
The soil visible in this area had different inclusions (cobbles and tile fragments) than the pebbly soil surrounding it. After scrapping along the edges of this area, it seemed that the pebbly layer sat on top of it. The soil removed during cleaning (context 245) would therefore belong to the layer under context 245 (to be dug as context 246), but has been contaminated by including some of the pebbly layer during scrapping.
One fragment of marble and one sherd of glass were found.
