Description:   The context shape in plan is linear. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is gradual. The base of the cut is tapered blunt point.
Notes:   The cutting for the pipe became visible clearly after the removal of the pipe fill (259), the pipe itself (258), and the fill under where the pipe lay (263).
The cut is clearly defined except toward the south where some stones, possibly part of a wall, partially fill the cut. The cut makes a slight detour to the east around these stones so the pipe can continue. At the extreme southern end, the cutting becomes narrower and disappears where the pipe goes over a pre-existing wall and disappears.
