Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   308 is the pit fill of an irregularly shaped pit (310). Extensive sweeping in the area revealed the edges of this pit.
The fill of 308 was remarkable in that there were very few inclusions, a drastic change from what we have been finding in the numerous pits in this area. It is possible that pit 310 was duge to rob out stones from wall 313 and was not actually a pit for disposal, hence the small amount of inclusions.
Fill 308 overlies the foundations of wall 313, making our interpretation that this was a robbing pit and not a disposal pit seem more likely.
