Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes: | 429: A hard light reddish brown sandy clay with inclusions of tile, ceramics, angular/subangular pebbles, and shell (snail). This deposit is E of the exposed section of 420. G.S. considers all of the deposits in this area related to flooding and collapse (destruction) of a structure. Notably we do not have walls that can be shown to confine or associate with whatever the collapse and flooding events are. Beneath this dep we come across a softer darker soil. The N edge is a red layer that was cut by 429. There is no evidence of wall 420 or a robbing trench. Pottery - 1 possible frankish contamination?
