Description:   The context shape in plan is oval. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: cut 272.
Notes:   Pit cut 486 is a pit cut into a larger pit fill (487). The pit is truncated to the south by the 19th c. boundary wall as evidenced by the cut for that wall - C272, however did not completely destroy the southern edge of the cut, which was detected about 20cm below the top of the cut on the northern edge. The base of the pit is flat, though it was dug away slightly in the N/E quadrant in the process of excavation. The base of the pit is formed by the same deposit as the lower part of the pit walls, characterized by a denser yellower with carbon inclusions.
