Stratum:   50% or more inclusions, mostly large roof tiles and some sherds. Some rough cut stones as well.
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven down to the W. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is well sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   We are excavating to figure out the layering sequence of destruction/leveling debris around the possible doorway/robbing trench (5195) on the west side of the N-S wall. This layer (5227) of many large roof tiles (flat Laconian tiles number 233 =83.5kg, and round tiles number 20=14kg) abuts the N-S wall which makes us think that this was a collapse from a roof. The tiles could also have been redeposited here as fill, but the tiles found abutting the E side of the wall (5271 & 5283), though at higher elevations support the theory that this is a collapse-- i.e. destruction debris. We have not really found whole tiles, however. This indicates finally that at some point these tiles really were redeposited here.
