Stratum:   2-4% small to large carbon pieces; occasional large chunks of yellow clay; occasional medium chunks of white concrete; 5% sherds; 5% small to large pebbles, mostly sub-rounded spherical and tabular; small amount of tile
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SW. The soil color is light brownish red. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is an area of red decayed mudbrick under the black fill that covered the four or more complete vessels in Room E west of the drain. The mudbrick lies E of the complete vessels.
We did a flotation test with a bucket and screen, but none of the carbon chunks were obvious organics. Therefore, we are not taking a sample for flotation. We are, however, dry sieving this context, since it might turn out to be part of a larger pit.
We have come down to an area containing the same red soil but numerous large tile inclusions, so we are changing contexts. We also revealed a small area of yellow clay under the NE part of this context, which we will dig as 5281.
