Notes:   This area was cleaned with an interest in seing how it related to the areas surrounding it which include call 58 on its northern boundary, a robbing trench on its eastern boundary, and an E-W running wall on the south boundary. The area had been cleaned in 2007, and was then overlaid with plastic, over which loose earth was dumped. It was from this dumped earth that coin 2008-30 was removed. The wall tops, which number six in all, were exposed during 1961 excavations; their exact relationship to the 1961 courtyard remains unclear, however. One wall, which runs N-S and forms an E boundary for the Ottoman building to the west, runs for nearly ten meters before it is truncated by a robbing trench; a parallel N-S running wall on the E side of this area has also been robbed, and the robbing trench was excavated in 1961. That particular wall seems to have formed the west boundary of the 1961-discovered courtyard. It seems likely that at one point, all of the E-W running walls including wall 58 truncated the N-S running walls; this is more likely for the aforementioned wall forming the east boundary of the Ottoman house, as the truncations are visible; the two E-W running walls with cobbled masonry terminate before reaching the robbed N-S wall bordering the 1961 courtyard. More may become visible once the high, compacted surface currently exposed is removed; in fact to the east, the E-W running wall bordering the horseshoe-shaped pit to the N does appear and to continue and forms the N. edge of the 1961 courtyard.
