Notes:   We are phasing this wall in an effort to close out the room north of the east half of Room F. This wall is the western boundary. It is disturbed at the south outside of our room, to the west of Room F, by a robbing trench (5120) excavated in 2007. The robbing trench is cut by a pit (also outside of our room, west of Room F) which was incompletely excavated in the 1960's and finished in 2007 (Botheros 6 (NB 228), 5097).
The finish of the stones is a mixture of unworked, roughly hewn, and squared. Orthostate is 1.80m from southern limit.
This wall (5435) does not bond with wall 5434. Wall 5434 is later than wall 5435. Wall 5435 does not bond with wall 5403. 5106 is the foundation trench for this wall (5435). Wall 5435 goes on top of lower courses of wall 5403 (overlap of 0.10m), and upper courses of 5403 abut wall 5435. Trench 5106 cuts trench 5436. Together this makes the following sequence: trench 5436, wall 5403, trench 5106, wall 5435 last.
Revised interpretation 15/5/08 ACF: Guy Sanders used a trowel to confirm that the northern boundaries of this wall are as drawn in plan. Although not enough is exposed to tell, we can see that 5403 goes under a large final block of 5435; we suspect that 5403 was cut back and this large block of 5435 was placed on top of this. Any possible connection between 5403 and 5484 is obscured. Guy Sanders believes that the lower courses of this wall are foundation up to 0.60m from the lowest visible part. Above the 0.60m mark, the courses are more even and the stones are better finished and more consistent in size and shape.
