| Notes: | Current known extent, as of May 16 2008: 1.36 x 0.55 x 0.21m. The full extent of this wall superstructure is currently obscured by the fill surrounding it to the N, S and W. The known length of this E-W wall fills a portion of the robbing trench of Structure 5479, which was an earlier N-S wall. It is difficult to comment on the masonry style of this wall, since only one course is visible at present. Squared random or squared built to courses seem most plausible. It is unclear whether structure 5443 pre or postdates structure 5442, which it abuts at its NE corner. Later notes: SG and WB (10/4/09) Wall 5443 removed along with adjacent wall 5442 in order to enable us to excavate underlying hard-packed floor surface to the north flanking south wall of room north of courtyard of Byzantine house. | |
