| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is dark brownish black. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay. | |
| Notes: | Deposit 5674 is a strip of dirt that runs north to south from the matyr/section at wall 5508 to the cut made by excavation of Well #2 (NB 230). The deposit is characterized by the large cobble inclusions that define its boundaries. It is expected that deposit 5674 either represents the fill of a trench cut into the floor surface or leveling fill dumped into a dip in the floor. Removal of the deposit 5674 revealed a sloping surface of more compact lighter soil with some tile inclusions on the east side. To the west, the boundaries are mixed. Near the cut for the excavation of well #2 the bottom of 5634 is a sloping surface, but towards the wall the boundary becomes vertical and resembles a cut. Whether this vertical scarp is produced by excavation or is truly reflective of the boundary of the deposit is unknown, though the former seems more likely. | |
