Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish grey. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are excavating the uncontaminated fill east of th pithos within cut 5851. The is ashy with bits of charcoal. Portions of the animal bone show signs of scorching. The amount of roof tiles and broken pottery suggest mix-debris fill. It appears that the pit was dug down to fit the pithos. The fill around the pithos served as packing in order to secure the vessel. The placement sequence of the pithos began with 1) digging a pit large enough 2) filling the pit about .05m (83.70 EL) to seat and stablize the pithos, and 3) packing mixed fill around the pithos to secure its position. Within the fill of the around the pithos, 156 roof tiles weighing 29.5kg were recovered. Z
