Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are excavating this ashy layer to reveal the floor below. The soil matrix appears to be very similar in composition to 5884, the ashy layer covering a different part of the same floor. Both are probably leveling fill below floor 5877. Test water sieve sample revealed no seeds, so no true sample was taken. The total station is broken so elevations were taken using a dumpy level and coordinates were taken off of fixed points.
Excavation revealed the rest of the floor below, which is interrupted at the north side 0.10-0.20 m from wall 5519. It ends in a sharp line parallel to the open space of wall 5519 which we hypothosize is a doorway. We hypothosize that there was a large threshold block in this now open space of 5519 which was excavated about 0.10 m into the room to the south, creating this sharp edge of the floor below. To the east of this, the floor does not extend all the way up to wall 5519 but ends in a much more irregular edge-this is due to the edge of the floor not being as compact as the center. We will not excavate this next floor because we are done for the season.
