Description:   The context shape in plan is rectrangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: Truncated to the East by robbing trench 497.
Notes:   The robbing trench cut 596 is a rectangular cut that runs E-W from the west edge of the robbing trench 497 for the EW wall 366 into the scarp at 255.5 E. The trench is ca. 0.6 m wide, so it corresponds to the usual width of Byzantine walls. The cut itself has vertical walls and a flat bottom that was easily discerned based on a color change; the fill below is red. The robbing trench cut he surface that appears to run under the tile destruction layer to the wall 376 to the south. The relationship between wall 366 and the robbed out wall associated with the trench 596 is not entirely clear; the cut for the robbing out of wall 306 and 366 and the robbing trench 596 are roughly in alignment, which may indicate a continuous stretch of wall robbed out in two separate robbing events. The wall 376, however, is on the same orientation but not in alignment with wall 306, with which wall 305 bonds; It is possible that wall 376 and the robbed out north wall of that room are later wall that abutted wall 306. The bottom elevation of the robbing trench 596 is slightly higher than that of the robbing trench 497. No stones of the wall are present in the bottom of the trench after the removal of the fill 595.
