Notes:   Context 5994 is cut for foundation trench (context 5993) dug for construction of wall 5990. Cut 5994 runs N-S along eastern side of room north of courtyard of Byzantine house.
Cut recognized during removal of context 5981 and its entire extent was able to be traced at this time along eastern edge of wall 5990. This context cuts into several surfaces on eastern side of room which could be combinations of floors and/or leveling surfaces.
Cut 5994 and its related deposit 5993 important for dating because it is apparent that wall 5990 is later than wall 5562 which is northern boundary of room. Dating this trench will help clarify relationship between these two walls when foundation trench for wall 5562 is revealed.
