Description: | The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt. Structure materials: Limestone. Material size: Most approximately 0.20 x 0.20 x 0.10. Material finish: Unworked. Material construction: Random. Material bonding: None. Features: None. | |
Notes: | Structure 6020 is stone feature on eastern side of doorwy of room north of courtyard of Byzantine house.Revealed by removal of context 5998 and further confirmed as small structure by removal of context 6011. Sitting on top of fill (6021) below 6011 so necessary to excavate it at this point. Unsure what this feature actually represents. During removal of structure 6020 a fragment of a marble female statue (shoulder or upper arm with evidence of drapery) recovered. Possible this was designed to shrink doorway or act as some type of threshold structure. Soil was dark yellowish brown clayey silt with only a few ceramic sherds and stones. | |
