Description:   The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 6243 is a small remaining patch of tile leveling fill in southern part of courtyard of Byzantine house. This context revealed by removal of wall 5508. Was directly sbeneath wall 5508 which is why it (context 6243) was not excavated last year. It likely equates to 2008 context 5300.
Soil is dark greyish brown clayey silt with approximately 5% inclusions (ceramics, stones). This is first of what will be many 2009 contexts beneath wall 5508 which equate to contexts excavated in 2008.
Removal of context 6243 revealed more of floor surface revealed by removal of wall 5508.
Context 5300 excavated in 2008 in the courtyard was the tile floor at the highest elevation to pass under wall 5508. It does not appear to be well preserved beyond this point and the only evidence of its continuation is the small tile floor patch (context 6243) at northeast corner under wall 5508.
