Stratum:   Ceramics (including tile fragments); stones (small pebbles to cobbles, rounded to subrounded, spherical)
Description:   The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 6266 is a fill deposit in area south of wall/structure 10112 in what may be part of courtyard. This fill is likely associated with one of the tile-built floors which are prevalent in this area, most likely 6262 (=6260). This filll also covers another tile-built floor and must be removed before we get to the floor. Soil is dark reddish-brown clayey silt with ca. 5% inclusions (ceramics, stones). This distinguishes it from the fill to the east (6265) which had much more lime plaster. Fills in this area have not been common as floors appear to be built on top of each other. Fills, like 6266, only appear occasionally when some leveling required for a later floor.
Removal of context 6266 revealed a compact earth surface and more of two tile-built floors which had been previosuly revealed. Dating this fill could provide an indication of a transition point between floors in this area.
Along with pottery, some bone and an iron tack recovered from context 6266; also a glass rim. By end of removal of 6266, very little tile-built floor revealed and majority of uncovered surface was compact earth.
