| Description: | The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | We are excavating surface 6270 to get this level down to the same surface as under 6258. After excavating 6256 it was found that there was another similar surface just a few centimeters underneath (6270). This new surface had a similar hard white layer on top but much more sub-surface soil than the previous layer. We took two sample in the same places as the previous layer (6256) so that we might compare the two surfaces. There are "paving stones" under this surface that we were hoping to understand by this excavation, however, it seems that there will be one more surface between 6270 and the paving stones (6120 and 6190). As 6270 is removed it seems that the next layer being revealed is very similar in color and inclusions to the context revealed underneath 6258. | |
