Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark pinkish black. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   6286 was opened as the fill inside well 6288. This well was revealed during the 1961 excavation season (Well OA/107; NB 229, p. 109) but the fill was dug for "less than a meter". Before opening this context, the level of the fill was approx 30 cm below the top of the stones around the top of the well. We took out approx 45 cm of soil before opening 6286 in order to assure we removed any contaminating back fill. None of material from the cleaning was saved.
The soil of 6286 is quite dark, with very few inclusions. Although the color of the soil did not change, we decided to close 6286 when we began encountering larger boulders and many large mammal bones. We also began encountering more glazed fine ware. Examples of multiple cattle (one of the cattle is juvenile) and articulated horse phalanges (which suggest it was deposited with skin on), also unique species (for N. of Nezi) such as mouse, horse. The articulated horse foot indicates that some of the material was a primary deposit although some of it appears to be trash (secondary deposit).
