Stratum:   Less than 10% inclusions of pottery, pebbles, still a little reddish brown but mostly yellowish brown; quite a bit of root disturbance .01 m diam.
Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We are excavating subsurface 6303 in order to keep things even as we take down our other surface 6292 on the assumption that the two are related (equal, contemporary, etc).
When 6258 was excavated, at least 4 new contexts were revealed - 6303, an area which was cut by 6303; a harder surface in front of the threshold 5671; and the bothros. 6303 is being removed first in order to make comparisons with 6292 since 6303 seems to be most similar to the series of floors we have been excavating.
The excavation revealed that while 6292 revealed a floor surface, 6303 did not reveal a floor surface. This shows that the series of floors above 6303 were an outer surface outside the wall and NOT that 6303 and 6292 were an equal floor punched through by a wall.
6292 surface goes up to the edge of 6120 (wall? Paving surface?) and was therefore in use whn this structure was in use; this is not the case for 6303. There do not seem to be further surfaces under 6303.
