| Description: | The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | We are excavating surface 6312 to better understand its relationship to the cut to its east, and the bothros to the west. 6312 seems to be lower than threshold 5671 and is therefore an earlier use of this area. We are going to leave a martyr between 6312 and threshold 5671 so that the fill for the foundation of the threshold does not become contaminated since this will be the layer of preservation for this room. This surface along with several other contexts was revealed by the excavation of 6258. 6312 was cut by 6308 to its east, although the formation of this cut is presently unclear. The coin found was actually to the south of this context by about 2 cm and lower in elevation by about 15-20 cm. Two stones were revealed which may be part of a new surface, but we are going to stop excavating this context in order to keep 5671 as the earliest phase (although we have gone a little earlier by excavating part of this context). | |
