Notes:   Structure 6313 is part of N-S wall which would have divided the courtyard of the Byzantine house and the room immediately to the west. It has been robbed out on both its northern and southern ends. A robbing trench (5510) has been identified for the southern removal, but no such feature yet identified for the northern removal. A foundation trench has also been identified on the western side of wall 6313 and runs the length of the robbing trench and the remaining section of wall. It consists primarily of large roughly hewn limestone blocks built up in random course. It abuts the western end of E-W wall 6318, but unknown which wall is earlier. They could be contemporary.
Later notes (08/05/09): Excavation of two foundation trenches today for wall 6323 has clarified its construction history. Small preserved section represents original southern extant since foundation trenches found at lower elevations than robbing trench. At some later point, part represented by robbing trench 5510 was added on to 6313 to extend it further to the south. This part later robbed out bringing 6313 back to its original extent, although it was also robbed out in the north. This section shown by foundation trench 6322 (cut 6323) which is western trench of wall and is much deeper next to preserved original section of wall. Also determined by foundation trench (6391, cut 6392) on south side of preserved section which forced us to reconsider the relationship of robbing trench 5510.
