Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   The previous fill 6368 was closed when we came down upon fill that was packed more solidly, was more ashy, had bits of white limestone and seemed to have a smooth surface and a hollow sound. When the soil was brought up in the buckets, it was extremely fine and very ashy. There was a dramatic drop in finds and bones at the sieve. The layer in the well may have been more compact due to the presence of water, as suggested by the pickman. Because we are doing 20-30 cm passes, the context was closed without a significant change in composition. 6371 continues below.
