The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey silt. | | Notes: | | Context 6376 is one of two discernable fills for pit (cut 6377) at the western edge of the courtyard of the Byzantine house. This fill was distinguished from the upper fill (6370) by its blacker color and lack of lime mortar inclusions. Otherwise, the fills are similar, being composed of destruction debris, i.e. broken tile and medium to large cobbles. This fill is less dense with inclusions and thus we will sieve this context in hopes of finding a coin which may be useful for dating. Some large pieces of mortar came from this fill, a feature which was believed to be absent here, but in 6370, however the difference in soil color still makes this a distinct context.
