| Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | This context was opened after 6469 was excavated and closed after ca. 30cm. During excavation of 6469, the soil became markedly damper and darker, but did so gradually throughout the context. 6474 has a dark, rich tone and comes out fully moist. There is also a significiant increase in the number of inclusions. There was a very large amount of bones of all sizes (eggshells continued but fewer scales). There seems to be more bones than pottery. Many rooftiles were removed as well as many boulders (e.g., platy shist 0.39m, subrounded tabular 0.30m). There were also some chunks of dense dark grey glay with colored soil inclusions (probably the 'wetter' version of the clay clumps with brown and green bits sampled from higher well contexts). Ca. 5-6 buckets were sieved with only the 7mm screen. The context was closed after ca. 0.50 m and ca. 30 buckets. | |
