| Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is very dark greyish black. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty clay. | |
| Notes: | This context was opened after 6497 was excavated ca. 0.50m. Although the closing of the context was done arbitrarly, we had noticed a gradual decrease in the number of inclusions (bones, sherds, eggshells), although tiles and small cobbles continued. Before the soil could be sieved, it was laid out on plastic to dry in the sun. The increased moisture in the soil and its high clay content had turned the soil into almost a loose mud, making sieving difficult. After 14 buckts and ca. 0.46m we hit the level of water. Stamatis reported that the water began bubbling up quickly; standing water came up in the buckets. The context was closed at this point with the intention of sieving the soil when it dries.
