Context:   6541

Stratum:   70% tile with 5-10% angular and subrounded cobbles, pebbles, pottery
Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the W. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   6541 was opened as a fill deposit of mostly tile fragments reaching the west side of wall 10086. 6338 came down on this fill (also cleaning pass 6533) and 6535, a deposit with few inclusions which also covered 6541. we had to remove 6535 in order to expose all of 6541.
The tiles of 6541 slope moderately from east to west. At the north they reach the edge of the as-yet unnumbered cut exposed with 6338 (that is, 6338 also filled this cut). In the south east corner, the tiles reach wall 6052 (robbed out to the west--rts 6042 and 6046).
We stopped digging 6541 when we noticed that the tiles were going under the dirt to the west. The plan was to stop digging 6541 at that point, open 6542 as the dirt to the west, and resume 6541 when the dirt had been removed. Notis took out the dirt but did not stop digging. He continued excavating the tiles as 6542. So, 6542 should be considered equal to 6541.
