The context is bounded by Wall 6426 on the south. The difference in soil color was noticed after cleaning pass 651. The context above 6553 was fill 5937 which was excavated and cleaned by Potenza and Boehm. Because the area had not been explored since session 2, the soil had a hardpacked and baked skin on top, which was removed during the cleaning pass.
