Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   6565 is the fill above what we took to be the fill inside the north side of the pier cut. It was excavated to the level of that fill then closed.
When excavating 6563, we came down on what we thought was the northern edge of the cut for the northwest pier foundation (cut 6273, foundation 6279). We realized that the tall thin strip (on the northern edge of 6273 and on the southern edge of 6263) must be fill in the robbing trench 6255 that robbed out the pier foundation.
Although we are stating that 6563 cuts 6565, we do not know for sure given the disturbed nature of the context. All we can say is that 6563 was softer and blacker than 6565 and so it seemed appropriate to take that out first. We do not know the extend or nature of the cut at this time. To the south, we should now understand that when excavating the fill of the pier robbing trench (6255), we did not take out all the fill. 6565 should be considered equal to 6255.
