Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context 6595 is a floor surface on the northeastern baulk in the room (the baulk bounded by 6148, 6224, 6273 and the 60s trench to the E of 10095). This floor is a long section resting on a pennisula of dirt curving around the north & west of pit 6224. Excavation of this context revealed another surface with flat lying tiles (84.93, context 6602) to the north, and at the south a context slightly higher in elevation (ca. 0.01-0.02). The northern context is redder and softer, while the southern bit is harder and less red. We excavated the southern portion as 6596. The hardness of the underlying context (6596) may be related to weathering during excavation, since it appears that all layers of the 'pennisula' were completely dried out due to the baulks thinness.
