Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   6610 was opened as a soft, blackish deposit below 6605. It seems to overlie the harder, redder soil on the north and east. It is cut on the south by the big circular pit 6224 and on the west by the big rt 6254.
As we excavated 6610, we noticed a small ash lens on the western side. There were no real boundaries to this lens; the ashy soil just bled into the surrounding non-ashy soil. Some bits of charcoal were seen.
It seems as if the black soil does not over lie the surrounding red but cuts it at the west. On the north, it appears to go beneath the harder, redder soil here. So it's possible the red overlies the black here. But it is difficult to be sure. We cannot say for sure that the black cuts the red, since the cut is not secure.
It seems that we are once again dealing with dumped fills that are not cutting but really overlying portions of one another.
