Context:   6637

Stratum:   70% inclusions of ceramics, tile, cobbles - tabular/angular
Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are excavating the martyr that was left around the well 6638. We are still looking for evidence of an extension of the cut (likely robbing) that runs along wall 6321 north of the well. We also plan to excavate the well down to the level of excavation around it in order to further this search.
Excavation of the context has revealed a cut running along the north of the well which looks like a cut for the foundation trench for the well. However, the cut ends on the NE side of the well in the same confusing area where we cannot find the continuation of the cut along wall 6321. The plan now is to remove the well down to the level of excavation around it, then to pursue the new cut.
Amendment 11/6/09 - DWL: We dug the martyr today. It is a cross section of two contexts: 6590 and 6608, both of which were dug before the martyr.
